Insomnia

Can't sleep :( I hate it when insomnia strikes in the middle of the night when I'm supposed to be sleeping.

I fell asleep last night while doing spyware search on my laptop and IMing donai[whatever his lj name is]. The IM convo wasn't going too good, as I was being disconnected quite often. So I would say something, say something else, realize I got disconnected, get connected back on automatically, receive a message, repeat process over again. After a while, it will disconnect me completely without logging me back in, which is what happened tonight. Being tired, I fell asleep during this. Woke up to 27 different cases of spyware stuff, though a ton of them were VX2 and a few were web cookies, which I don't mind.

I thought I had removed VX2 a while back. Oh well. I wonder why it keeps adding itself. Perhaps I removed the thing itself but it had left traces of itself on my computer, so that it gets detected, but doesn't do anything anymore? I'm not getting redirected to weird webpages anymore and I don't get a bunch of popups and netstat -a doesn't show any weird connections. So I don't know.

When I get a chance to, I'm taking my laptop elsewhere and using internet to see if it is perhaps something wrong with my internet connection and AIM. I don't think I have a problem with my internet, as everything else stays connected, but I also don't think I have a hosed version of AIM either. If that doesn't work I'll just have to file a complaint with AIM and see if they can figure something out for me.

I just took a walk outside because it's hot in my room. It's chilly outside, but in the nice way. It's also really quiet too. I haven't been outside at this hour in a really long time. This is the first time in two months where I've done that. It's nice and enjoyable when there's no cars and no people outside in the chilly night air. Would have been nicer had there not been clouds in the sky, but it was good enough to just be outside.

So, I'm going to try falling asleep again. We'll see how that goes. Probably not well. I suppose I could take a Benadryl to try and knock myself out (and to stop my knee from itching--it looks to have been bitten by something, ugh), but I'm afraid that if I take one now it won't kick in until 6am and then I'd sleep until noon. Oh well. At least it's Friday, so I can stay up as late as I want tonight and sleep for as long as I want tomorrow.
